A solo single, written by the Gibb brothers, who had recently arrived in the UK from Australia with a case full of songs that they gave away to a bunch of British stars whose crowns had been slipping in the mod-psych era.
Its flamboyant symphonic ending was presumably the music Mr Green had been trying to compose. Magic, but never likely to be a hit single. Written by Marsden, this moody folk-based song was another, slower, highlight of the Ferry Cross the Mersey soundtrack. Guitars are held high and played fast because it was the best way to keep warm in post-war, pre-central heating Merseyside.
Underneath them, Les Maguire is giving it the full Jerry Lee treatment, pounding his piano at almost inhuman speed. I'm so glad these are either dead or don't do music anymore.
What a load of shit, it sounds like they're worried about something with that weird slightly wobbly tone he sings it in. Absolutely awful song. His songs and band were fun, but nothing special, but Gerry Marsden could really sing, as this track testifies.
I love that picture at I first heard this song in while stationed in Bremerhaven. I bought the 45 and still have it, and I also like the flip side. Artista: Gerry and the Pacemakers. Fecha de lanzamiento: I like it too! Ohhhh man, I could listen to this stuff all day and all nite. I so thoroughly remember the British Invasion when it hit America I was about 10 and a rock n' roller, big-time WickedTornado Hey man!
Absolutely great music. We have a radio station here in the UK called "Gold" and it plays all these 60's hits all the time as well as other classic hits from other decades gone by. If you head to the website you can listen live for free from any country.
It's all this type of music :. Also in to indie music being a teenager of the 90s! The st UK 1. A bit more uptempo, with a consistent riff, just like modern music. However, I don't feel as comfortable listening to the tone of the vocals on this one. It doesn't ruin the song, though. Jon Jon fuk you man you're not in some special group for liking a type of music. My dad was born "46" So I was bought up with this kind of music Can't beat it. Why is it necessary to put down a different generation of music just to compliment this one?
There was just as much garbage in the 60s as there is today. This is a great song, but Gerry wasn't exactly a strong vocalist was he? Lot of people who sing well today, but wouldn't know how to write a good song. That's music - it is what it is Classic Mitch Murray tune, nice video, well-done! Cheers, '62 Mathew St.
Total Retro Rock. Great series of snapshots to capture the spirit of the times. Remember those who died on the beaches of Normandy to make these later carefree times possible.
